The School of Chemistry is committed to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM). We strive to achieve gender equality in the School and recognise that proactive actions are required to achieve this.
The School provides an egalitarian working environment for everyone, at all levels. We support the progression of our staff and students in academia and at every career transition point.
A reflection of the Schools ethos for equality and diversity (E&D) is our achievement of the Athena SWAN Gold Award (2012). The School of Chemistry was the 2nd department to achieve a Gold Award and we are committed to maintaining this status. The University of Edinburgh, as an institution, holds a Silver Award.
The Award must be renewed every 3 years and we are in the process of renewing our Gold Award (2016). You can keep up to date with the progress of our renewal and find out about the diverse range of initiatives currently going on in the School by looking through the tabs in this web page.
