My Ed Portal
My Ed is a very useful service which is packed with information on various aspects of student life, including EUSA (elections, societies, advice place etc.) and various uni services (careers, accommodation and card services). You need to register for it but it is free to do so.
SAGE
You need to register for this service as well, unless you have already registered for MyEd. This site enables you to search for employer info and also employer-specific job vacancies.
Careers Service
This is our University careers service. They have two offices, one in KB (Weir Building) and in George Square (Buccleuch Place). They will help you with applying for jobs (constructing a CV, practicing interview technique, and you can also speak to careers advisors). They can also help you find summer work not only in Edinburgh but all over the UK. If you are unsure about your future there is also info regarding the pros and cons of further study.
Careers Service - Information on previous graduates
Select the relevant course to view information concerning destinations and job types that previous graduates have gone on to do.
Science Jobs
A Chemistry based job database. This site is mainly based in the US however has an extensive number of jobs advertised in the UK and the rest of the world.

A job search engine in all areas, not just chemistry, which is field specific, comprehensive and easy to use.

Industrial Placements Course Manual
This is the University of Edinburgh Industrial Placements Course Manual. It contains all the information that you would require about industrial placements including: the benefits of taking a placement, the changes in your course structure from a standard degree, how to apply, and also what you will actually do while away.
A Personal View Of Placements
A personal account of an industrial placement from an Edinburgh student who spent 2001-2002 year working in industry.

The following companies have presentations at or around Edinburgh University during the year. Attending these presentations is highly recommended as it gives you an insight into the companies and their employment opportunities.
