Combined Royal Colleges Lecture 2019 Optical Imaging – a new horizon by Professors Mark Bradley and Kev Dhaliwal

How light “of many different colours and flavours” can be used to diagnose disease in a number of remarkable new ways

We are all very familiar with photonic technology and “light” – in particular with two parameters such as colour and intensity, which are used for a variety of healthcare applications. However, the term “light” covers a number of other phenomena such as fluorescence, phosphorescence and Raman whose unique properties allowing very different “paintings of disease”. In our lecture we will explain the challenges of current clinical practice and how a range of new optical techniques create unique images for disease diagnosis and characterisation.

This year’s Combined Royal Colleges lecture will be given by the recipients of the 2018 Combined Royal Colleges Medal, Professors Mark Bradley and Kev Dhaliwal.

The lecture will be held at the the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Doors will open at 6:15pm for a short drinks reception and the evening ends at 9pm
