As part of our International Year of Light celebrations, we'll be hosting a special ceilidh on the 5th of December at the Southside Community Centre, Edinburgh, where all the dances will have a twist of science of Light! From Dashing White Light Wave to Flying Photon to Mass Spectrometry Reels, each dance will be based on the chemistry, physics, maths and biology of light!
Tickets are now on sale, with an early-bird discount before 22nd of November.
Thanks to the Royal Society of Chemistry for kindly funding this event.
More information about the project can be found on the Science Ceilidh International Year of Light website.
What is a Science Ceilidh?
The Science Ceilidh itself is an award-winning project which adapts the Scottish dances to explain science concepts and break stereotypes about the role of creativity in research. Having toured across the UK over the last year, the band have shared their dances inspired from neuroscience, space, physiology, cancer research and stem cells with over 4000 dancers and look forward to writing dances based on chemistry, physics and maths!
