On the 5th of September a one day conference, NMR for Industry, took place at the University of Stirling. It was organised on behalf of the Scottish NMR User Group (SNUG) by Dr Nicholle Bell who did a splendid job, attracting more than 30 active participant from a dozen of companies.
Sponsored by ScotCHEM and NMR manufactures (BRUKER, JEOL, Nanalysis, Oxford Instruments, Magritek and GPE), delegates were presented with an introduction to liquid, solid and bench top NMR, followed by practical examples of the use of NMR in industrial applications. The newly developed SNUG webpage was presented for the first time as a portal for accessing NMR instrumentation and expertise in Scotland. A borrowing scheme for a benchtop NMR was also announced.
We have received positive feedback for this event. Participants uniformly reported on their increased knowledge of NMR and awareness how to access NMR in Scotland. We look forward to working with our industrial partners.
