Doors Open Day

The School of Chemistry will open its doors to the public again this year on the 26th September. Chemistry has been taught here since 1922, making it the oldest building on the campus. Visitors will be able to take guided tours of the building and view our exciting new plans for the redevelopment of the building.

We will be offering a taste of our special freshly made ice-cream, made in front of your eyes with liquid nitrogen! Continuing the theme of Food and Drink we will also be using IR and UV-vis spectrometers to identify some mystery food and drink samples.

The Chemistry of Food

The University short courses programme for Autumn has been announced, and it includes a new course: The Chemistry of Food. This is being delivered by two post-docs from the School of Chemistry.

The course runs for five weeks at King???s Buildings from late September, and includes sessions on brewing, baking, molecular gastronomy, and chocolate.

No prerequisite knowledge of chemistry is required.
