EaStCHEM homepage

Organic Chemistry at EaStCHEM at Edinburgh focuses on new ways of making molecules and their subsequent application in chemistry, biology and the material sciences. Major areas of interest include asymmetric catalysis, heterocyclic chemistry and the development of synthetic methods and strategies leading to the synthesis of biologically important molecules. We have a thriving research program in supramolecular chemistry that examines the design and synthesis of molecular machines, supramolecular catalysts and smart materials for nanotechnology. Other investigations include synthetic applications of reactive intermediates chemistry, new cyclisation strategies for small and medium rings and the use of thermal methods for reagent-free organic synthesis.
