I spent four very happy undergraduate years in the School of Chemistry at Kings Buildings. I continued with postgraduate research in the field of heterocyclic chemistry under the supervision of Dr George Tennant who, I am delighted to say, is also an active Honorary Fellow in the Joseph Black Building. My subsequent career was spent teaching chemistry, the large majority of which was in the Royal High School, Edinburgh. For many years I was also active in the SEB (now the SQA).
On retiring from school teaching I was invited to lend my considerable teaching experience in the School of Chemistry. As an Honorary Fellow, my main contributions have been in Biological Chemistry and 2nd and 3rd year Organic Chemistry. I also contribute in the 4th year Science Education programme.
