The School of Chemistry was voted the runner-up in the annual EUSA Teaching Awards Best Department category. Our teaching has been rated as excellent by the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council. Courses are taught by world-leading scientists and our teaching labs are among the best in the UK.
In later years you will be able to study in a research lab on an extended project under the supervision of one of our researchers. You will gain vital practical skills by working closely with more experienced scientists in a real research environment.
We also maintain links with universities and companies at home and abroad. As part of your studies you can choose to spend a year abroad or in industry. Students on one of these courses can be assured of the same high standards of teaching they will have experienced in Edinburgh.
All our courses are recognised and accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry. We teach students all the chemistry skills they'll need to work in a modern research environment. As well as the latest chemistry techniques and concepts, you'll learn valuable skills such as teamwork and problem-solving, which will prove useful no matter what route you take after graduation.
