Success at Tiger in STEMM Chemistry Webinar Series 2021

Chemical Physics student presentation makes two Edinburgh Chemistry speakers

Congratulations to Chemical Physics undergraduate student, Tihana Štefanić, for recently presenting her literature research at the Tiger in STEMM Chemistry Webinar Series 2021! Tihana’s presentation, titled “Forever Chemicals: the magnitude, ganders and future of PFAS compounds” was fantastic and Tihana done a great job of representing the brilliant talent of our undergraduate students at School of Chemistry.

Tihana joins Mohamed Katish as our second School of Chemistry student to present at the Chemistry Webinar Series 2021.

The Chemistry Webinar Series was hosted by Tiger in STEMM and the RSC as part of the formers commitment to achieving equity and improving diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematics, and Medicine). The mission statement of Tiger in STEMM and of the Chemistry Webinar Series resonated with Tihana:

I was very grateful to be picked to speak at the webinar, as it was a rewarding experience in participating in a meaningful STEMM-based event alongside several incredible students and in presenting my work to an audience of scientists.

The support I received from Tiger in STEMM ahead of the webinar was very uplifting and I highly encourage others to look into their cause.

Taking part in the event and in their [Tiger in STEMM] training workshop helped me improve my presentation skills and confidence in public speaking, especially for professional scientific research.
